Ian Moir established the firm in 2009, with a focus principally on criminal defence work. As a sole practitioner Ian quickly developed a solid client base and a reputation as one of most sought after criminal defence practitioners in Scotland. Ian received many word-of-mouth referrals stemming from satisfied clients recommending ‘Moir the Lawyer’ to anyone who required advice and assistance with any area of criminal law.
As the firm continued to grow Paul Sweeney joined the firm in December 2013 initially at associate level. Paul’s knowledge and experience in criminal defence work complemented that already offered by Ian. The firm’s array of services expanded with the addition of Paul’s experience in proceeds of crime, family and children’s matters. In recognition of Paul’s contribution to the continued expansion of the firm, Ian and Paul joined forces as business partners with the formation of Moir and Sweeney Litigation.
In early 2021, Moir and Sweeney Litigation incorporated Turnbull McCarron Solicitors. The incorporation prompted the expansion of Moir and Sweeney Litigation’s team of experienced solicitors and the array of services offered in respect of family and private client matters. Our firm’s principal office can now be found at Duke Street in the east of Glasgow with two further offices in Parkhead and Govan.
